A note from Henrietta

Bring some sun to your table with these beautiful yellow dinner plates from Gien porcelain! We love their colour and their big size. Use them together on a contrasting tablecloth, or paired them with geometric- or floral patterned plates.

La faïencerie de Gien

La faïencerie de Gien is a fine earthenware manufacturing company located in the French town of Gien in the Loiret department and the Centre-Val de Loire region. Among the many earthenware factories born in the 19th century, that of Gien is one of the most renowned and the most important in Europe.

The Gien factory excelled in the art of imitation, and manufactured copies of pieces from the past at an affordable price. Unique pieces were also created with the help of talented artists who illustrated them with new decorations or were inspired by those of past centuries (17th and 18th centuries) or those of other European and Far Eastern earthenware. Founded in 1821 by English industrialist Thomas Edme Hulm, the production first focused on utility tableware and then moved towards the manufacture of table services and decorative pieces for large families.
